FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT

Complying with Current Legislation - There are two key fire regulations:

• Fire Precautions Act 1971 - which requires that people can escape from buildings on fire

• Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations, as amended - which require that fire risks in the workplace are minimised

What do they mean?

As part of a series of Health & Safety Regulations, the FIRE PRECAUTIONS (WORKPLACE) REGULATIONS extend the duty on an EMPLOYER/RESPONSIBLE PERSON to carry out a FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT of the WORKPLACE and to take appropriate action to either reduce the rsik to persons in case of fire, or implement procedures to counter risks.

If you employ 5 or more persons, you will be required to record the SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS of your RISK ASSESSMENT.
