The Portfinn

Portfinn, run by the Daly family since 1977, overlooks the Killary Harbor in the picturesque village of Leenane in County Galway.

We offer 8 comfortable rooms, all en suite, with either a sea or mountain view.

Portfinn also has a renowned seafood restaurant that serves only locally caught and processed fish, meat, and poultry.

Activities such as scuba diving, fishing, hiking, and golf are available at our door step.

We look forward to hosting you in the near future.

Here at Portfinn we have 8 comfortable and tastefully decorated guestrooms. We have both double and triple size rooms, all of which are ensuite. Mountain views as well as Bay views are available. Prices vary from €35 Per Person sharing in the low season (March- May), to €40 Per Person sharing in the High season (June-September).

Our restaurant enjoys picturesque views of the Killary and the surrounding mountains. Having an international reputation for its seafood we use as far as possible locally caught fish to ensure its quality and freshness.

Our Chef's creations have been much acclaimed and include turbot in champagne, brill with crab and pernod, lobster with a special butter and garlic sauce, wild salmon and many others. We are delighted to quote for private parties or functions. We have a small but comprehensive and specially chosen wine list to complement our dishes.

Leenane is situated on the southern shore of Killary Harbor, which is Ireland's only fjord. There are spectacular views of the bay, and of the Galway and Mayo Mountains. This area has a worldwide reputation as an area of outstanding natural beauty, and it truely is breathtaking.

A few very famous movies have been shot right on our doorstep, including "The Field" and "Tristan and Isolde". The area is also steeped in history, and was one of the areas most affected by the Famine in the 1840's. Everywhere you look there is evidence of this terrible period in Irish history, from ruined buliding to famine relief roads. Nowdays, thankfully, this is a much more pleasant place....one that you can never really appreciate until you visit!
